Larch Lodge has been designed to have a minimum impact on the environment. It is constructed entirely from timber and stands on timber posts planted into the ground. Most of the timber used is larch felled locally.
The walls, floor and roof are made from two layers with a cavity filled with sheep’s wool insulation. This very thick layer provides double the insulation required for standard house construction. The lodge is very warm in winter and cool in the summer, using minimum energy to heat. It has full central heating throughout, for the colder weather. The roof is clad with cedar wood shingles and rainwater is collected to be re-cycled to flush the toilets.
A lovely stay. The Lodge is stylish and so comfortable. We love the attention to detail in the main room, lovely colours and angles to admire
A large clerestory window along the roof ridge allows natural day light to flood into the living room and kitchen dining area for most of the day.
The lodge has a double en-suite bedroom with bathroom and walk in shower, plus a twin en-suite bedroom with bathroom and over-bath shower. The living area has two large comfy sofas, a dining area and a fully fitted kitchen with a fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer. The Eco Lodge has full central heating for the colder weather and WiFi access.
The rear of the lodge has a totally private fenced and hedged garden area with a large sun deck that looks over uninterrupted views of the surrounding country side. The lodge is in a very quite location yet at the same time it is served by the amenities of the on-site vegetarian restaurant and coffee-shop which is open during the day. Very useful for lazy days when cooking is not on the agenda.

We offer a Lodge situated 6 miles north of Penrith, near to the Eden Valley, Ullswater, Keswick & Carlisle. We aim to set out our current facilities and services on offer, to enable all visitors to make an informed decision as to whether we meet their particular access needs. The Lodge is a new build that we have designed and built ourselves. It is all on one level and therefore suitable for anyone who has difficulty in using stairs. There is a gravel ramp to the rear of the property for anyone who is unable to mange the three steps up to the front balcony and front entrance. All doorways are wide enough to take a wheelchair, but the property is only suitable for limited wheelchair use as the bedrooms and bathrooms have restricted space for full use of a wheelchair.
